The fundamental rules of jigsaw sudoku are identical to the classic game: you must fill the 9×9 grid with numbers from 1 to 9 so that no number repeats in any row or column. The massive twist? The standard 3×3 blocks have been completely removed. Instead, the board is divided into nine irregular, colorful jigsaw shapes. Each of these winding shapes contains exactly nine cells, and each shape must contain the numbers 1 through 9.

- Embrace the Curves: Pay close attention to shapes that wrap around corners or snake through multiple rows and columns. A single number placed in a long, “L-shaped” jigsaw piece can eliminate candidates across a huge portion of the board.
- The “Law of Leftovers”: This is a powerful trick for sudoku jigsaw puzzles. If you look at three complete columns (which must contain exactly three sets of 1-9), and notice that they perfectly enclose two jigsaw shapes plus a few extra “leftover” cells, those leftover cells must perfectly match the missing numbers protruding into other shapes!
